ABOUT ME
Firstly I am lucky to be a farmer’s wife, a mum, a daughter and a sister – along with many other roles in life.
Professionally I am a self motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent brand and channel marketing experience with National and International FMCG Brands within retail and foodservice sector.
Since graduating from UCC in 2003 with a degree in Food Business and a Masters in Food Marketing, I have spent the past 16 years working on some of the best brands a marketeer could wish for, some of which are outlined below for those who are interested in more detail.
My journey began as Sales and Marketing Executive based in Portland Oregon managing Sales & Marketing activities of the Kerrygold brand in the Northwest region of America for the Irish Dairy Board (now Ornua). I moved back home in 2005 and on to manage the marketing for the Green Isle brand where we launched 5 products in the short time I was there covering maternity leave.
After that I joined Unilever Food Solutions as Product Manager where I had responsibility for building and maintaining the local product portfolio Lyons, Knorr and Carte D’Or and later on as Trade Marketing Manager I was responsible for developing marketing strategies for business building within the Foodservice division across all trade partners.
Heading closer to home in 2009, I was offered a role as Centra Strategy Brand Manager at an exciting time for the brand, I managed the development of the brand’s strategy – and was responsible for the development and launch of the Centra sponsorship of the GAA All Ireland Senior Hurling Championships, managing the GAA/Centra relationships, activation of the sponsorship across the network of retailers and on match days, the management and allocation of match tickets!
2012 saw me back in Waterford taking on a new challenge with RIKON, developing marketing and business strategy for SME business across a huge range of industries.
When the opportunity arose in 2014 to become brand manager for the iconic brand that is Flahavan’s, of course I jumped at the chance. Within my role I had responsibility for the Irish Market - sponsorships, brand ambassadors, TV ad development as well as assisting in the development of a new strategic direction for the brand at a time when on shelf competiton was presenting challenges.
But it has always been my dream to establish my own consultancy business and in 2019 I have realised that dream. I love working on new brands. My aim is to bring new thinking, new ideas and new impetus to businesses to provide insight as to what motivates their customers and to assist clients understand that often it’s small changes to their communications that can help their businesses to power ahead into the future.
SERVICES
After 16 years working with marketing teams of various sizes, across a range of industries, I saw an opportunity to provide a friendly, professional support to assist companies with strengthening their brand message and to ultimately drive stronger engagement with the target customer.
I believe a fresh pair of eyes can benefit any brand strategy.
Key insights from
my industry experience
- People are often so busy getting through the daily work load there is not enough time dedicated to stepping back to look at the bigger picture and opportunities are missed.
- With the explosion of Digital Marketing, people are over stretched and some opportunities are put on the long finger.
- Some brands dive straight into executing marketing plans without investing enough time into thinking about the why, who, what, where and when.
- Marketing teams are sometimes so close to their own brand/product that opportunities can be missed.
- Bigger projects can be under resourced and not carried out to their full potential.
- Smaller companies with limited marketing knowledge can miss out on great opportunities as they are often trying to cover a number of roles.

TESTIMONIALS
Moya Verling worked at Flahavan’s (as Brand Manager) between 2014 and 2018. During that time she made a significant contribution to the growth and success of the brand through her skills in execution of our marketing activities that included our domestic advertising, PR and digital programmes. As well as working on research, design, sponsorship, event management and launching several new products to market, Moya had a great understanding on how best to grow and develop brands. She was always supportive, enthusiastic and her advice has always been insight driven, strategic and practical. She was a valuable member of our team and we were sorry to lose her.

Salas & Marketing Director, Flahavan’s
I worked with Moya as part of the Ornua Consumer Foods team in the USA, where Moya was the Sales & Marketing Manager for the Northwest Region. While in the USA Moya displayed a great passion for working with one of Ireland’s iconic food brands, showing that she had both strong commercial and creative skills. In fact, it was Moya’s proposal for the field sales team to be issued with Kerrygold Branded VW Beetle’s to ensure they all made an impact in their local regions, now standard issue!
